The Weekend

This weekend was busy. It started on Friday when I got to go to Grant's school and see him recite a poem by Mother Goose. Here is the video. Grant talks quietly and of course Logan started talking during it.

Isn't that cute!
On Saturday, Our day started with Grant's second soccer game. They won 4-3. It was a really good game. Before every game they say a prayer. Here is a picture of that.

We thought that was really wonderful. They were holding hands in the circle but I was a little late in getting the camera out. Grant played really well. Here is a video of him running after the ball and towards the end he almost made a goal but a child on the opposing team kicked it away from him.

Didn't he do really well? We were proud of him. The other people you hear on the video are Paul and Kelly. It was a really good game. Then after the game we went to Hartsville to see Daniel's parents. Thier church was haing a block party and was giving away door prizes. Daniel won a twenty dollar gift certificate to Tony's in Hartsville. So of course we went there for dinner. And we saw this really cool sign.

We are thinking of blowing this one up and putting it in his room! Anyway that was our weekend I know it is alot but It is all important. Hope you all had a good weekend.

Nicholas Sparks

Last night Kelly and I went up to Charlotte to get Nicholas Sparks to sign his new book. I got a copy for Carrie, my sister-in-law. She loves his books. It was fun. The signing started at 7pm. We got in line about then and stayed in line for about 2 hours. He was really nice though. We also met this nice lady behind us in line. I took her picture with Nicholas Sparks and emailed it to her. Her name was Emily Dickenson! How cute is that! Grant and Logan behaved so well. I was really proud of Grant because he does not like to stand in line at all. What 5 year old does? But he was really good, he and Kelly looked at a Highlights magazine while I carried Logan around because he got sick of the stroller after about an hour or so.

Here are a couple of firsts!

The video above is of Grant running after the ball. It is the close up video of Grant. He had so much fun playing saturday. Paul came to see him. Daniel's parents almost made it, but they had some car trouble. The final score was 3-3. Not made for the first game.

He is the one in white shorts. The black ones are too big for him. We will probably go buy some black shorts that fit him so he matches the other team members. They have seven more games so be prepared for many more videos!

Here is another first that happened that same day, but for Logan. His very first belly laugh.

Isn't that the best sound you have ever heard? I couldn't even believe it. I got him to do it for me yesterday. I love it!

And just so you know, the reason I threaten to hurt someone on the video is because my father-in-law was trying to get Logan to blow a rasberry. My nephew does it and will not stop. I really don't want Logan to do it at all. My father-in-law thinks its funny. I forgot I was recording when I said it.

My Boys

I know the photo says August, but it's not. I keep forgetting to change the date in my camera. Anyway, this was yesterday. Logan is now big enough to get in the walker. He really enjoyed it. He hasn't figured out he can make it move, but I am not in a rush for him to figure it out just yet. He is getting so big so quickly. He also figured out how to blow rasberries at you. He was doing it in the car to get Grant's attention. We are trying not to laugh at him when he does it so maybe he won't do it too much. That's not something we want to encourage, our nephew Braxton does it all the time and Carrie is having a hard time getting him to stop. So we are trying not to get it started. Even though it is really funny.
Grant had his first homework assignment last night. He had to color a picture of some grapes and write his first and last name on it. He did really well. He stayed in the lines for the most part and that is the hardest part of coloring. He also colored the grapes different colors. Today the principal of his school is going to pick the best one. At least I think he is doing it today, that is what Grant said anyway. He is really enjoying school. He loves his teachers. This morning on the way to school, he was telling me about his music teacher and his P.E. teachers. He is really enjoying both of those classes.
Grant is very excited about his first soccer game tomorrow. It is at 8:30 in the MORNING!!!!! I can't believe I have to get up so early. It is crazy! And don't worry I will be posting pictures!
Have a good weekend everyone!

People

I was just reading someone's blog about their baby. And they talked about something that has been bothering me too. Logan has a red mark on the back of his head about the size of a quarter or bigger. I think it is a birthmark of some kind. But people are so rude. They see the mark and ask, "What is that?". Like it is some gross defect or something. And of course I have to try and explain it. Logan also has a red mark on his neck at his hairline. That is called a stork bite and will eventually goes away.

The blog I was reading also talked about strangers touching the baby. I have never understood this. When this happens I usually just smile politely and walk away quickly. This one time at Toys'r'us, this lady came over to me and said that she like the feel of a baby's head and then asked if she could touch Logan's head. At first I was shocked, and then I just said no. And she just gave me this mean look and walked away. All I could think was, Woman, this is my baby and no one is touching him. When I told Daniel about it, he couldn't believe it. I just don't understand people sometimes.

When Grant was a baby, We were at Walmart, and this lady came near the buggy and was just staring at him, and then looks at me and says in a really creepy voice, "I just love babies". Daniel and I didn't like that at all, we walked away from her as fast as possible.

The Beach

This past weekend we went to the beach to see my mom and Ernie. We had a blast. It was great to see them. The picture above is the turtle family that lives in the pond behind mom's condo at the beach. We got down there saturday afternoon and the first thing we did was go to Ripley's Aquarium. It was Teacher Appreciation Day there, so Daniel got everyone in for free.

On Sunday we went back to Broadway at the beach and did some shopping. That evening Grant wanted to go play putt-putt. So we went to Jurassic Golf. That is Grant's favorite course at the beach.

They had two holes that were crazy. The first one seemed like it wasn't finished because it was open behind the hole to where the ball could fall in the water.

Then the other hole was this little bridge over the water with nothing to stop the ball from falling into the water and being taken away. We had to let Grant hit his ball from the other side of the bridge.

Grant also made two hole-in-ones! We took this picture after the first one. He was so happy because Daniel and I didn't make any hole-in-ones. Daniel won the game though.

We had alot of fun at the beach. Mom and Ernie are coming for Thanksgivng! I am so excited. I have not had Thanksgiving at my house yet. We always have to go to one side of the family or another. It should be interesting.

The Weekend

This weekend was great. We relaxed around the house. I got the nursery cleaned up so I can start getting Logan to sleep in his crib. He has been sleeping in his swing since he came home from the hospital and I think he is getting tired of it. So it is time to go through the transition from swing to crib. Let's hope it is as easy as it was with Grant. Grant had another soccer practice last night. He did really well. He is really enjoying soccer. He was excited to go back to school today. We are so happy that he is enjoying school. He has made three friends so far. We are very proud of him.
